Monday Teeny Poll
By GlindaAwww, a full 38% of you never got to go to summer camp. Although that might be just as well, seeing as how an equal amount of you remember it as both miserable and fun. Not exactly a rousing endorsement. 22% thought it was great, and I guess it is a good thing that no one remembers is as only miserable.
I didn’t attend a sleep away camp, but a day camp since both of my parents worked. The only things I really remember were playing the “telephone” game, singing stupid songs which I thought were fantastic at the time, and having two boys sort of fight over me. Now if I could only remember why… I was a big, tall, strapping young woman who didn’t really attract male attention until high school, seeing as how I towered over most of my peers.
And now, something completely different.

My husband and I went to Babbo, in NYC, for our wedding supper. We got the seven-course tasting menu.
Now, I have had good food. I come from a family of good cooks, and have had incredible meals.
But this was something altogether different. I didn’t recognize three-quarters of what was being served to me, but I did not care. The aromas, the textures, the seasonings, the flavours so amazing that you just close your eyes and moan a little…the whole thing was just astonishingly good.
Mind you, we also had a glass of perfectly paired Italian wine with each of the seven courses, so my memories of the food get progressively foggier with each course. Needless to say, I was thoroughly trollied by the time the first of three dessert courses came out.
Plus, there is nothing like Babbo for people-watching. And the service was beyond impeccable. You’d barely clench your bum cheeks, and someone would be there pulling out your chair for you.
I’ve had good meals. But this was just utter perfection, from start to finish.
