Tuesday Teeny Poll
By Glinda44% of you consider the weather when deciding how long to leave leftovers out. 17% do a couple of hours no matter what, another 17% of you don’t even care, and another 17% of you REALLY don’t care. Only 3% of you are as anal as I am, it seems. Er, well, maybe that was just me.
On Friday I got my hair did, and as I was writing the check out to my stylist, I thought to myself that I couldn’t even remember the check I wrote before that.

In my 20s, I was checks only. Then I got a credit card, but didn’t really start using it heavily until a few years later. Now I so rarely write a check (or use cash) that I get really annoyed at the people in front of me at the store who do write checks.
My annoyance is compounded when they wait until all their groceries are loaded to start writing the check. Lady. You know the date. You know what store you’re in. You know your name. Let’s reduce the inefficiency just a little.

Yeah, two words: debit card. I don’t like to keep more than a couple credit cards, but I use my debit card all the time. And from both sides of the retail cash register, I believe there is a special place in hell for folks who write a check with an enormous line behind them. The last store I worked at (a very prolific cosmetics chain), a customer writing a check required me to take their driver’s license, write the license number on the check, and then run the check and all the information through an electronic system that would essentially verify they had the funds. The whole process would take several minutes. Come on! Join the 21st century!
