Our wonderful friend Liz is on a winning streak, as she again correctly guessed that the young chap pictured in our last game was David Duchovny! Liz, your prize is either a fake FBI badge or a week’s worth of sex addiction therapy.

Celebrity Dad Faceoff 2.0

My friends.  I have to say that I do not understand a world in which Bruce Willis is considered hotter than Mel Gibson, but you have spoken, and I must abide by your will.   That doesn’t mean I have to like it, though.

Today’s challenger is pure vintage 80’s.  The combination of soap opera doctor and pop singer made this next man one hot property back in the day.

Stella McCartney GapKids Collection

By Glinda

This actually came out a week or two ago, and I missed it because I was doing something impractical, like giving birth or something.

Anyhoo, I’d heard a lot of buzz about the collection, and decided to take a look for myself.

Stella Mcartney Gap2

All right, I am seriously digging the Sgt. Pepper jacket.  I don’t know that I would actually buy it, but I am digging it nonetheless.

Stella McCartney Gap3

Not so enthralled with the leopard-screened sweater dress.

Stella McCartney Gap4

The color palette you see in these photos is pretty indicative of the entire collection. Soft, soft, colors and soft, soft fabrics, including cashmere.

All in all, there are very reasonably priced articles of clothing that I would certainly purchase for myself, and some great showstoppers, such as the Sgt. Pepper jacket and a fabulous trench coat that many adults would spring for if it came in their size.

Children Gone Vegetarian!

child with vegetables

No doubt picking up on the vegetarian theme from Mr. Henry, the LA Times has an article about what to do when your child chooses to become a vegetarian.

My husband and I are wholeheartedly omnivorous, but I have already had talks with the Munchkin about the meat we are eating and the specific animals from whence our meat comes from.   For instance the other day, he made me list off all the different meat products that can be made from pork.  What can I say, we have fascinating dinner conversations around here.

But, the Munchkin has already asked questions pertaining to how the animals are raised, and where are they raised, and he may have even asked at some point how they are killed to which Glinda just sort of put her fingers in her ears and sang “La, la, la, la…”

No, I didn’t do that.  Really.

What I do need to do is get rid of that copy of  The Jungle I’ve got laying around here somewhere before he gets his hands on it.

I kid, I kid…

Let’s just say, though, that if one day my son chose to become a vegetarian, it wouldn’t surprise me.  I’d like to think that I would support him in that decision, even if I didn’t necessarily agree with the philosophy behind it.

However, unless he decides to expand his current crop of approved vegetables, he will be eating nothing but fruit, carrots, and corn.

Scary, and Not in a “Good” Way

Jacob Black Barbie Doll

This is Mattel’s immortalization of  Twilight’s Jacob Black.  You know, Werewolf Barbie.

It makes me uncomfortable in ways I have difficulty expressing.

Is it the fact that this is supposed to be targeted to tweens?

Is it the fact that the actor who plays Jacob Black is still a minor, yet is obviously being portrayed as a sex symbol with that eight-pack?

Or is it just that those cutoff jean shorts are so very dorky?  Or that he is wearing sneakers with no socks?

Some help here?

Monday Teeny Poll

Monday, November 16th, 2009
By Glinda

pregnant woman with alcohol

According to the results of last week’s poll, the majority of you are having Thanksgiving right at home. To that I say, good luck! I am fortunate enough that my sister is the hostess with the mostest and has all the major holidays and birthdays at her house. My contribution? Usually an appetizer or a salad. This year, probably neither, since I have the excuse of a newborn to hide behind.

Today’s poll revolves around pregnancy, but not mine. Even though I have to admit that during the Halloween party season, imbibing an alcoholic drink was tempting. Especially since I was feeling pretty cruddy for my entire last trimester. I didn’t do it, though.

Because I Can’t Resist

baby girl

Posting a teensy bit about the newest addition to our family.

The Munchinette was born at the very civilized hour of 9:33am on November 5. She came in at a healthy but petite 7lbs, 6oz. She currently has curly brown hair and blue eyes. Both of those could change, I’m guessing.

I had a repeat C-section, and according to the anesthesiologist, I set some sort of World Record in Vomiting During the Giving of Life. I guess my body does not react well to anesthesia, and I even told the doctor prior to the surgery that I had some similar issues with the Munchkin, although not nearly as bad. Even the anti-nausea medication he put into my drug cocktail didn’t work. Boo.

So, I’m slightly sleep deprived, even though I am lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who is taking two months off work to help out with my recovery and just generally making sure that the Munchkin gets to school on time and wearing appropriate clothing.

Here’s to the many sleepless nights to come!
