Top Ten Sesame Street Moments?
By raincoasterWell, normally I’d never link to Jezebel; their commenters aren’t as smart and good-looking as ours are, not to mention all those “Date Rape: what’s all the fuss?” posts they did not so long ago, but every once in a while they simply fail to fail, as they do here with their 10 Awesome Moments from Sesame Street.
Singing, cultural diversity and huggable puppets: What’s not to love? (How many of these albums did you have?)
- Me and My Llama
- Ladybug Picnic
- School Pageant: Flower
- Pinball 12 with the Pointer Sisters!
- Ernie Can’t Sleep
- I Love Trash (my all-time favorite)
- Somebody Come and Play
- C is for Cookie
- Near and Far with Grover
- Fairy Alphabet, which I don’t believe I’ve ever actually seen before
Now, I dunno about you, but to me this list lacks a few things. A few AWESOME things, namely Monsterpiece Theatre, Elmo interviewing Ricky Gervais, and Neil Patrick Harris as the Shoe Fairy. Behold!

Can you provide links for these pro-Date Rape posts? I’ve been reading Jezebel for quite some time, and haven’t seen anything remotely close.

You don’t know Moe? And all the “oh, it happens to everyone, you just pick up your pantyhose and walk home in the rain” fallout? She was even on television talking about it, perhaps one of the reasons she left so abruptly. Twice.

For my money, the best Sesame Street moment was Stevie Wonder singing “Superstition”. This was back when Sesame Street was still urban, diverse and seriously, seriously funky.

I’m partial to the “Rubber Duck” song where they are all in the tub with Ernie, and Ernie’s duet with Aaron Neville.

Certainly classics, all.
