The Perfect Party for a Three Year Old

My  husband and I have been mulling over party ideas for our three year old daughter.  She was born after Halloween, but very soon after, so we thought about a Halloween-themed party.  Or we thought about just renting a bounce house, putting it in the front yard and being done.

Silly us, we should be doing this.

My daughter loves swimming.

Now if only we lived in Florida.

Monday Teeny Poll

38% of you are equally split between loving where you live and hating where you live, which I find interesting.  I think I would love where I live more if we were closer to my husband’s job.  As it stands, he has an hour commute and the price of gasoline is eating us alive.

I asked last week’s question because very soon I will embark on a whole-house remodel of a place we should have moved into months and months ago, but have been prevented by various circumstances not under my control.  A place that is ten minutes away from where my husband works.

Why I’m Not on Pinterest

I’ve got nothing against Pinterest.

In fact, I’m sort of fascinated by Pinterest.  I mean, in theory, what’s not to like?

Cute things, pretty things, kid things, food things, and all kinds of things in between.

But yet I have managed to not register for an account, nor do I visit even semi-regularly.

You see, I simply don’t have the time.

I am one of those people who would lose myself in all of the stuff, finding excuses to go on the site when I didn’t really need to, or needlessly researching photos in order to Pin them.

I don’t have the time for that.

I feel like I would be back in the olden, heady days of my personal blog (I started blogging in 2004) where I spent an inordinate amount of time visiting other people’s blogs.

I’ve got a fourth grader to homeschool, a house to at least attempt to keep clean, a demanding toddler with a full therapy schedule, and oh hey, some things called friends in real life that I should try to call and talk to.

Roll those all together, which isn’t even counting cooking or reading books or spending time with my husband, and you have someone who is so far successfully resisting the siren call of Pinterest.

How about you?

Even More Awesomeness

These people and their creativity with wheelchair costumes cause me to hang my head in shame.

Monday Teeny Poll

72% of you are experiencing lovely, crisp fall weather. Casa Glinda is experiencing record temperatures and trying not to faint from heatstroke in October.  I think it is supposed to be 102 today.

That is totally wrong.

I apparently need to move to a different state.

Which leads me to the question of the day.

CDF 2.0

Patrick Stewart needs one more win to advance to the CDF Hall of Fame.

Will he move there at warp speed, or will he encounter turbulence courtesy of our next contestant?

VERSUS

The Inside Joke

I’ve been waffling on what kind of Halloween costume my daughter should wear this Halloween.

It’s probably the last Halloween where I can freely pick a costume for her without her input, although I have to say that outside of liking twirly skirts, she isn’t all that demanding in the clothing department.  I have a penchant for wanting her to be literary characters, so I was sort of leaning that direction.  But nothing really felt right.

People often comment on how angelic my daughter looks.  She has very big, bright blue eyes, with incredibly long lashes.

Looks can be deceiving.

Since in the past two days she has broken one of our screen doors and locked herself in the bathroom, as well as her various temper tantrums and general all-around demanding-ness, the perfect costume came to me.

A devil.

My daughter will be a devil.

Oh, the cutest devil you ever did see, but a devil nonetheless.

Hey, my husband and I need some laughs, I assure you.

Ahhhhhhh-some!

Dave Engledow is my kind of Dad.

Look at these adorable pictures he created for his daughter, Alice Bee.  I think his captions are perfect.
