Organic Produce

My question about tattoos elicited some very interesting responses and comments indeed.  A full 58% of respondents said that it would be acceptable for their child to get a tattoo only after the age of 18, and 27% said the child couldn’t get one as long as they still lived at home.

Most of the comments were not in favor of permanent markings, and I would have to say that I am not really in favor of them either.  However, if my son were to grow up and get one, as long as it wasn’t easily visible I wouldn’t object.  Too strenuously.  But really, once it is done, it’s done so there would be no point getting upset about it.

This week we veer off into the realm of organic food.  Is it the only way to go when feeding a family?  Is it a big moneymaking scam?  I want to know what you  think.

Diablo Cody at the Oscars

Last week’s poll about the Oscar telecast should have the Academy a bit worried, because hardly anyone watched the Oscars, and those that did weren’t all that pleased.  A paltry 16 percent had anything positive to say about it.  Perhaps they need to provide a little more excitement than people tuning in just to see if Jack Nicholson is still alive.

This weeks poll is inspired a bit by Oscar winner Diablo Cody and her prominently displayed tattoo.  I was wondering what you thought about when and if your child wanted to get one.

Hannah Montana in concert

Last week’s poll asking about hand-written thank-you notes seemed to garner a response that was mostly in favor of children doing them.  However, forty-five percent of the respondents acknowledged that getting your six year old to sit and write them was a task that is far from easy.  That being said, some form of thanks is imperative, although I’m thinking that those types of thank-you notes will decrease in popularity.  I didn’t say I agreed with it, I just think that’s how it’s going to go.

So this week we are going to deal with the demand for concert tickets. Hannah Montana tickets, in particular.  If you have a young girl or tween in your life, chances are you know all about Ms. Montana, aka Miley Cyrus.

Thank you note from child

With last week’s poll about cell phone usage floating around somewhere in the internet ether, I am unable to give you a tally of the results.   It seemed that middle school aged children were winning out as the right age to first give a phone to a child, but since the poll was only up for about five hours, that is a bit unreliable. Goodbye last week’s poll, we hardly knew ye!

In a nod to raincoaster’s handwritten Valentines post, I ask you:

For last week’s poll, which asked if schools should do away with letter grades, the “yes” answer came up with a big goose egg. Ninety-six percent said no, while three percent wasn’t sure.

Which begs the question, if we don’t like the letter grading system all that much, but we like the “credit/no credit” option even less, where does that leave us? Apparently with a system that leaves everybody quite cranky.

Zooming off in an entirely different direction this week (watch out for that whiplash, I’ve heard it’s nasty) I would like to ask:

Letter Grades go bye bye?

Last week’s question “Do you think that all children have the potential to be “A” students?” sparked many comments that generally seemed dissatisfied with the educational system.  A whopping 86% of respondents answered “no,” leaving only 13% to answer yes.  Quite a few of the comments implied that letter grades were unfair, or failed to quantify certain types of intelligence, which is certainly true.

So, to continue on a theme:

(My apologies, apparently the twiigs site was down for maintenance this morning, and thus their polling is experiencing problems.)

Student in Need of Some Improvement

Last week’s poll showed almost half of respondents wishing the media would leave the children of celebrities alone, already.  Another 22% felt badly about the overexposure, but couldn’t help being interested.

Let’s face it, for whatever reason, our culture right now is one of celebrity. Even though these children are put in the public eye through no fault of their own, as long as we place so much value on what “stars” are doing, they will continue to be watched.

But, let’s take an entirely different direction with today’s poll, shall we?

Almost all of the clan!

Last week’s poll about the content here on Teeny Manolo was heard loud and clear!  I wasn’t so surprised to see that you wanted more of children’s fashion, shoes, and bargains, each of which grabbed a large share of the votes. But it was a bit of a shocker to see that suggestions for activities/toys were also desired.

Hey, we are here for you!  It can and will be done!

“Celebrity babies” was one of the lowest vote-getting categories, which leads me to today’s Teeny Poll:

Two polls in one week? Why the insanity, Glinda?

Having the sort of vitality and creativity that comes with almost three weeks of forced captivity with a sick family, I began to think of all sorts of ways in which I could improve upon my content here at Teeny Manolo.  I know, I know, it’s so hard to improve upon perfection, but still, I want to try.

As all these ideas were whirling around in my head, I began to think that perhaps I should solicit the help of the people who are actually the ones being subjected treated to what I put up here.   Perhaps the ideas that I think are so great only sound great to me because I haven’t seen the outside world in over a week.  So without further ado, I humbly ask our smart, witty, and super fantastic readers:
