Celebrity Dad Faceoff And Happy 4th of July!

Friday, July 4th, 2008
By Glinda

Viggo, we love you.  That is very obvious by the way you have handily trounced each and every opponent you have faced thus far on the Celebrity Dad Faceoff.

Therefore, I am giving you a permanent place in our Celebrity Dad Hall of Fame, where your beautiful visage will gaze out on us and we will throw ourselves at your feet.  Or, er, at you, which is kind of the same thing.  It is fitting that this should happen on a national holiday, don’t you think?

And while I was at the whole revamping thing, I thought to myself, why have I placed this artificial restriction to have these gorgeous men in “natural” photos?  I say go for the best pics I can find!

So, I would like to introduce a brand new set of contenders to kick off a whole new round of CDFO.

Contestants, come on down!

I’m beginning to think that I should retire Mr. Mortensen, but I shall press on for the time being.

Poor Tyson, gorgeous and shiny as he is, was unable to pull out a victory last week, but had one of the best showings since Clive Owen with seventeen percent of the vote.

Now, I present to you a favorite of mine. A man who is equally as talented an actor as Viggo, and who I am looking forward to drooling over this summer on the big screen.

Yup, we’ve got the Dark Knight himself up this week.

Ahhhhh Viggo, art thou unconquerable? The likes of Clive Owen, Jon Bon Jovi, Denzel Washington, and Laird Hamilton have fallen to those icy blue eyes.

Is there no one who can beat you?

Here’s model extraordinaire Tyson Beckford giving it his best shot. And really, it’s a very good shot. I mean, have you seen him without a shirt?

From Mirriam-Webster:

Main Entry: land·slide
Pronunciation: \ˈlan(d)-ˌslīd\
Function: noun
Date: 1838
1: the usually rapid downward movement of a mass of rock, earth, or artificial fill on a slope; also : the mass that moves down
2 a: a great majority of votes for one side b: an overwhelming victory

I’m guessing you already know that I am not referring to definition number 1 when I say that Viggo Mortensen won over Jon Bon Jovi by a landslide. Out of a record 429 votes, Viggo came out on top with ninety-one percent of the vote. That, my friends, is practically an avalanche.

So, who best to challenge the reigning king, with his vast legions of loyal fans?

Why not the king of the waves?

Viggo Mortensen managed to eke out a victory over Clive Owen by a mere three percent of the popular vote.  Clive almost managed to win, despite scandalous accusations that I was trying to fix the competition.  Ah Clive, I shall miss those lovely green eyes of yours…

This week we tread a path not yet chosen here on Celebrity Dad Faceoff, although you had to know it was coming.  Yes, that’s right, we’ve got a non-actor this week.  Well, actually, I think this rocker has made a few cameos here and there in movies and whatnot, but his main calling is music.  I have never really thought this week’s challenger was all that hot, but I know that there are many, many who will disagree with me.  It must be a Jersey boy thing.

So, on with the show…

Nobody, it seems, wanted to bend it like Beckham. Or bend it with him, or at him, or any other type of bending.

Viggo is still the reigning king!

But, this week’s challenger is also he of the chiseled cheekbones and gravitas. Oh, and those gorgeous hazel eyes don’t hurt either.

Denzel, we loved ye. We are sorry to see you go.

Viggo Mortensen, he of the chiseled cheekbones and blue eyes, hath been crowned this week’s champion.

Who dares to challenge the king?

Why Becks, of course!

The ante.

It must be upped.

Bourdain got his butt kicked, losing with only thirty percent of the vote.

So, I bring to you a man who has played a half-elf and a Russian gangster. And who looked good doing both.

Gentlemen, if you please…

As it turns out, Denzel was able to deliver quite the drubbing to Mr. CSI, or Jag, or whatever show Mark Harmon is currently starring in. Denzel garnered almost sixty percent of the vote, leaving Mr. Harmon to languish with a mere forty-two percent.

And once again, my friends, I have slogged through seemingly gazillions of sometimes painful Google image pages, searching for someone who just might have the chops to win over the esteemed Mr. Washington.

And while raincoaster and the ever superfantastic Phyllis had some great suggestions, (I will utilize them, never fear!) I sort of went my own way this week. I admit to having somewhat of a crush on this next contender, even though he isn’t necessarily conventionally handsome. But, as we all know, conventionally handsome does not always translate into hot, and ladies, we’re all about the hot over here.

Forget about questionable teen photos, this week’s big shocker is that Hugh Jackman actually lost last week’s Faceoff. Unable to pull out his sixth win, he lost by exactly one percent according to my handy dandy poll calculator thingy.

But hey, he can feel better knowing that he lost to Denzel Washington, who, I have to admit, is mighty fine.

So this week, in keeping with the hot older dad theme I seem to have going, I have someone I feel is an extremely interesting challenger.

Let’s rumble….
