Monday Teeny Poll
By GlindaIt seems I have somehow angered the sickness gods, as all of my family members (including me) keep getting struck by illness. This is my second illness in a week, and I’m a wee bit tired of feeling like crap. I suppose I will have to make some kind of offering, on a shrine built out of empty tissue boxes. Which goodness knows there are plenty of around here.
We’ve got a bunch of animal lovers here at Teeny Manolo, with twenty-nine percent adoring all animals except icky types of animals, and another twenty-nine percent being dog lovers. Next came twenty-five percent of you being partial to the catnippers, or the catnappers, if we are being more precise. Nine percent of you said you weren’t animal people, and that’s OK.
Speaking of illnesses, are you one to take preventive measures?

I said faithfully, and it’s true with one exception. The one year I got busy and neglected to is also the year that I got the flu while pregnant, and thus really only able to just be miserable for a week straight. Since then I am cautious not to anger the flu gods.
This year work not only had someone come on site to do it, they paid for it as well. Makes it easier.

I get the flu shot every year. I get as much for work as I get for myself, because I often work with people who have weakened immune systems. Last year, I was required to get the flu shot and the H1N1 shot by work, this year it wasn’t required.

I think I must be really, really lucky or must have an extraordinary immune system, because ever since I lived in South America without access to post-toilet hand-washing facilities most of the time, I have not gotten sick. As in, I get a mild cold once a year or so, but that’s it.
I also am not around kids, so that might have something to do with it.

Required by work. Almost always manage to get the kids vaccinated (baby got only 1 of 2 last year, have to do better this year.) Husband categorically refuses. Sigh.

You need another category — “Good for other people, but I don’t want to get one.”
My dad has to have one or get pneumonia each winter. Me, I never get very sick so I don’t mind avoiding the extra shot (I tend to have weird reactions to immunizations).
