I don't approve of cheat codes unless you've beaten the game and you're just messing around, but I played one game literally for YEARS before I finally found a walkthrough for one stupid item combination on the third level. That was so frustrating. This makes me think of an issue that's come up with my husband a few times recently -- when he or his brother are playing board games, they will get cranky and give up when they see that there is no longer a possibility of them winning. I think that's poor sportsmanship, but they say they don't see the point in prolonging the end game when it is clear who the winner is. If you're stuck for long enough that the game has stopped being fun, then go ahead and look it up. If you find that looking stuff up too much robs you of the fun, stop looking it up. It's not a test. If you're really stuck, is it better to get annoyed and stop playing the game altogether, or to look up the answer and move on? I think move on. I don't think anyone should look up all the answers or get all the hints, because then why bother playing the game? Because then you're not "playing" the game. Our favorites are the Lego series - Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman. If we have played through the level three times and still can't find the secrets we look it up.
