I like pink well enough, but I also do my best to avoid dressing my daughter in too much of it. I almost bought her winter coat in a color I didn't like as much just because I didn't want to get her a pink coat. It's actually sort of a bright raspberry, with lighter accents, and now that it's here, I love it. My current favorite of my daughter's outfits is a bright pumpkin-colored cord jumper with a matching turtleneck in fall-colored stripes. (It has decorative buttons sewn on the straps of the jumper and is just unbelievably cute. Gymboree is the bomb.)

We're in the process of buying a house, and I had always planned on painting my daughter's new room--her first of her own--yellow. But I recently saw a room in a magazine that was a gorgeous pinky peach color and I want to do that, although I feel guilty that it might end up looking too pink...

This would be why our daughter (15mo) wears a lot of "boys clothes". Don't get me wrong-- I love pink, and I love dressing her in it, but I get tired of it. So I buy cute shirts from the boy side. (Her father's current favorite is a The Godfather t-shirt I got at target, mine's a penguin shirt I got at old navy). I also buy pants from the boy side -- jeans are jeans, right? :)

You're going to be pretty much out of luck. When I looked for gifts for my friend's shower, I tried to find non-pink girls items. They're out there, but very rare.

That's why we kept the gender a surprise -- we received a ton of yellow, green and white, and were then able to supplement it with a few blue pieces after Sam was born. Don't worry about it -- she'll outgrow those clothes before you know it, and the river of gifts will dry up eventually. There IS an awful lot of pink out there for girls, but other options are out there.
