Monday Teeny Poll

Oh, the hatred towards flip-flops from the Manolosphere! Forty six percent of you sentenced flip-flops to at least tweny years behind bars, with no allowance for good behavior. It was evenly split at twenty six percent each for a verdict of innocence, while the rest simply could not decide.
I’m of the mind that flip-flops are suitable when you are close to a body of water. Other than that, I prefer a nice sandal. Perhaps part of the problem is that I have a ridiculously high arch, and walking a long time in flips is painful for me. So maybe there is a bias there, but I come by it honestly.
For today, I want to know your mindset when you decide what to wear for a normal day.
When does a flip flop morph into a thong sandal? The “sandal” that the Manolo has recommended on the Home Page is a flip flop, no? If it goes between the toes and has no back then isn’t it a flip flop? Perhaps I am not as poorly shod as I thought based on the opinions of this survey.
Frankly, at this point I wear whatever fits.
Jennie, if you read the post you’ll clearly see the words “beach house.” Both Glinda and I agree that beaches are a perfect place for a flipflop, whether or not they come with houses. I think, too, the Manolo is somewhat more generous with his flipfloppitude than Glinda and I because he is an aesthete, rather than a woman. A woman who’s tired of hearing “smack, smack, smack, smack, smack, smack”.
This is the most beautiful sandal the Manolo has ever featured; a shoe so exquisite that it overcomes even my distaste for Prada. The Corallo Oro.
I dress for comfort, usually in the gym clothes that I wore to the gym in the morning, as in, I don’t change clothes once I have put them on at 7:30 a.m.*, but I am ashamed of my sloth. Especially when I put on something nice to go somewhere without my husband and he asks, “Hey! How come you never dress that way around me?”
The sting of his remarks is tempered by the fact that it is 6:00 p.m. and he is still works-from-home 1) unshowered, 2) unshaved and 3) in his PJs and robe, but still.
* Yes, that means I do not take a shower.
