You honestly think anything in this child’s life will ever live up to this moment? Phillies fans decided, for whatever completely arbitrary and not-at-all malt-beverage-related reason, to cheer wildly whenever this toddler raised his arms. Note how quickly this adorable child went from Jon Cusack in Say Anything to Adolf Hitler at the Nuremberg Rally.

Google.org is tracking the flu, just for you!

This map and accompanying graph shows which areas of the US are typing search terms related to the influenza virus, which they have found to be quite an accurate predictor of where the flu happens to be prevalent. They explain the methodology here, and tout themselves as being more accurate than the CDC!

Based on that graph, flu activity is currently pretty low, but it looks like we need to watch out for December!

“Before Children” of course!

1. Leaving the house whenever I wanted to. Something so simple, and yet so dearly missed.

2. Leisurely losing myself in a book for hours.

3. Never seeing “G” rated movies. Or cartoons.

4. Listening to my music of choice in the car. With the speakers turned all the way up. Yeeeahhhh!

5. Being woken up by an alarm clock that wasn’t wearing dinosaur pajamas.

6. Not having to base restaurant choice on if they have a children’s menu.

7. The distinct lack of crumbs and mysterious bits of paper that seem to lurk almost everywhere.

8. The ability to go to the bathroom without someone banging on the door after two minutes, and always with a demand of some sort.

9. Lots of alone time with the Husband and the ability to be “spontaneous.” Not that we necessarily were, but we could if we felt like it!

10. The quiet. Ohhhh, the quiet. I think I might miss that the most.

Next week I’ll have a list of “The Things I Can’t Live Without After Children.” Because there are of course, many positive things about having children. Right?
