Where I grew up, Middle School was just another name for Junior High, i.e., grades six through eight.

I would have no interest in being a cool parent. I would want to be a good parent who raises happy, well-adjusted children who would be happy, well-adjusted, productive adults whom anyone would be glad to have as a friend, next-door neighhor, or employee (or boss!). If that means no R movies at age 13 and grounding when they break the rules, so be it.

If only it were so easy as to have three choices for all of life’s dilemmas - kinda like a Cosmo quiz (which always told me how level-headed and balanced I was, even though I wasn’t).

middle school is grades 6-8, while junior high is grades 7-9. when i was in school, you went to elementary school for k-6th, then junior high for grades 7-9 and high school for grades 10-12. they’ve changed it so that kids supposedly acclimate better. now kids go to elementary school for k-5th, middle school for grades 6-8 and high school for grades 9-12.

Thank you. See, where I went to school we had Grade 13, too. Sometimes I think I grew up in the Twilight Zone.

I am cool parent! However, I’m also 18 so that might (maybe? a little?) have influenced my answers (please don’t ask why I read this blog, but I do, regularly). I’m sure in a few years I will think back about how I am now and keep my children on lockdown.

Raincoaster, I don’t have kids but I tested out as a cool parent. In the real world, there is Kindergarten, usually 4 and 5 year olds. Then 6 years of grade school. Middle school is 7 thru 9 in most areas (ocassionally 7 is grade school) Then 10 thru 12 is High School.

But…they hadn’t invented Junior High when I was in school either. Are we talking 12-15? I’m serious, my graduating class was 6 people; we’re lucky we had more than one room!
