    Honest to god, when I was a nanny I looked after two kids who had every high-tech toy, but not one ball, not one stuffed animal. I spent half my salary for December buying them your basic assortment of must-haves: balls, stuffed puppies, and, because it was Canada, a toboggan.

    I just found a really nice small set of the classic Tinker-toys at Target for $9.99! My mom still has the ones we used as kids, the things last forever. Just make sure you don’t have a kid that sticks everything up their nose or in their ear!
