I confess that one of my favorite parts about becoming a parent is my renewed license to watch Sesame Street with impunity. I love how many of the segments I remember from my own childhood. It's not my fault I have so many siblings who were once cute children, and who now have cute children! Anyway, my oldest brother seriously, seriously loved Sesame Street when he was 4, and Oscar the Grouch in particular. One day when my mom was distracted, wrangling with a two year old and a baby, he slipped out of the house unnoticed. After the requisite panic attack, my mom found him working his way methodically up the street, knocking on trash cans. "Oscar? Are you in there?" So, yeah. Oscar's my favorite, too. I know I ALWAYS do this, but I can’t help but share related stories from my family that are cute. It’s not my fault I have so many siblings who were once cute children, and who now have cute children!
