Homegirl did a stupid, stupid thing, no doubt about it. I don’t approve of what she did, but that mainly because I’m an uptight prude who’s the mom of two impressionable girls. ;)

But she doesn’t deserve to be fired. I admire the fact that she didn’t try to “spin” things, and instead admitted up front that the pictures were of her. She didn’t break the law, and she didn’t cause anyone else any harm. I hope Disney keeps her on for HMS 3. It wouldn’t be the same without her.

On the other hand, after HSM 3, she’s on her own. If she can’t/doesn’t get work in the future because of this, then she will have learned a valuable lesson.

I see there are a few people not familiar with the juggernaut that is the HSM franchise. And to be honest, since my son is not in the target demographic, I was a little out of the loop as well.

And well, under a rock as well, since 200 million people are estimated to have seen the first movie alone, not to mention last year’s top selling CD.

If Walt weren’t dead already, this would have finished him off!

It was a toss up between thank goodness there were no cell phone cameras and youthful indiscretion. I went with youthful indiscretion, mostly because she was stupid enough to give those photos to someone she trusted and who betrayed her.

Lucky for her, Britney made everyone forget all about Vanessa.

Liz- I am so over Britney. And I didn’t even watch.

I really dislike this mentality because what she or any other legal actresses/actors do on their own time is their own business. She is an actress, she plays a role and that isn’t who she is in real life. I couldn’t care less what she does off the clock as long as she keeps pumping out quality entertainment.

I’m totally jealous of how perfectly gorgeous she is, but if a sixteen-year-old of mine took and emailed naked pictures of herself I would be confiscating her electrical appliances down to and including the digital clock radio. Apparently she was sixteen when she was seeing the guy to whom she emailed these pix.

Jennifer- You raise some excellent points, and apparently most people agree with you!

Rain- Ahhh, but Disney stock is doing pretty good, so maybe he would be ok.

Ninja- It’s that whole “actresses and sports figures shouldn’t be role models” argument. Charles Barkley, where are you?

Rain- I thought she was 17, but either way, she was underage at the time they were taken.

Great heavens – I certainly hope we can chalk this up to youthful indescretion. If not, doesn’t that send a terrible message to kids? “Whatever you do, don’t make any mistakes – if you do everyone will stop loving you, you’ll be fired and your life will be over.” I’m pretty glad no one judged me this harshly at 16; I didn’t have a clue then, and I’ve barely got one now.

Yep Glinda. It’s a very Marxist idea that one’s work becomes increasingly pervasive into one’s life – we don’t start living until we’re off the clock and in the case of celebrities, politicians, and other public figures that do not have explicit moral obligations (e.g. politicians vs. clergy), them being elevated to such a pedestal means that their work NEVER ends. To me, it’s simply unfair and unnecessary to judge someone’s private persona like that, especially in the case of a teen/young adult. No one is a role model “just because” he/she achieves something; that title is usually thrusted upon one by someone else.

I hope some crazed fan finds that ex that leaked the photos and stabs in the throat. The sooner someone can get rid of the next generation of Rick Solomon’s, the better.

Mywhimsy- If you can’t do stupid things as a kid, when can you do them?

Ninja- For some reason, I thought she was with Zac Efron at the time, and the photos were for him. I’m not sure who leaked them. At least she had the class not to lie and deny it.
