I’m aware of what some of those women go through to look the way they do. Remember, it’s how they make their money. Fasting for several weeks at a time is not unusual (and please take me literally; they have nothing but juice and water for weeks at a time) or exercising to the point of fainting daily. And not to forget the benefits of Photoshop and supportive undergarmenture and selective camera angles. You can’t see Heidi’s jawline in that photo, nor her belly, and her love handle folds on the back have been airbrushed out.
Actually, she looks a bit like Perez Hilton there, come to think of it.

I think Heidi is gorgeous and I saw video of that photo shoot. She didn’t look airbrushed at all in the video. I’ve also seen video of her workouts with a trainer. She’s a good example of someone with good genes and a good trainer. (I still voted for the nanny, live-in chef and the trainer though.)

Rain- You are right, it IS their livelihood, so I understand the pressure.
Liz-She makes me a bit ill, though. Even if she does have wonderful genes.
Margaret- I’ll remember that option next time!

Heidi also smokes like a chimney, even when pregnant. Thin isn’t healthy. I remember when Catherine Zeta-Jones did a shoot a month after giving birth; she wore a corset. Now THAT is how to work the tricks of the trade.

I like my women to be a little curvier. The 12 year old boy hips don’t really do anything for me, but that’s just me.

It’s pretty much their job to look like that. I do admire the minority like Kate Winslet who took her time shedding the baby weight.
If it makes anyone feel better, Heidi looks quite scary when she opens her mouth and smiles widely, squinting her eyes. Even though she doesn’t have many wrinkles, they ALL show up when she does that. It’s probably why we never see genuinely exuberant expressions from models. She was also as flat as a board before the implants; her natural body shape is thin and willowy, not curvy like the Cindy Crawford and the other glamazons of the 90s.
